Main responsibilities and duties of the post

1- Performing all tasks required to teach and ensure that students and parents learn the standards set in the national curriculum.

2- Preparing lesson plans to ensure that students meet the standards set in the national curriculum.

3- Preparing papers for various tests given to students and administering the tests.

4- Teaching students of different abilities and talents according to their level and aptitude.

5- Marking answer scripts, assessment papers, unit test papers and term test papers for the subjects mentioned and marking papers of tests held to measure or develop students' progress according to the guidelines.

6- Maintaining records of student achievement and progress.

7- Maintaining records of practical work done by students.

8- Maintaining records of students' behavioural matters while in the classroom and outside the classroom during school activities.

9- Participating in parent-teacher meetings and providing information to parents regarding students' learning.

10- Sharing necessary information with school administration, teachers and educational authorities regarding student development.

11- Assisting the school and cooperating in conducting activities related to teaching and learning carried out outside the classroom.

12- Ensuring that the environment in which students are engaged is safe and secure.

13- Ensuring that students are receiving satisfactory educational progress and developing sound moral and ethical character in students.

14- Taking relief shifts.

15- Conducting school clubs and activities.

16- Coordinating additional resources required in relation to teaching subjects when necessary, under the guidance and direction of school management.

17- Participating in professional development activities organised by the school.

18- Participating in opportunities provided by the Ministry of Education and relevant institutions to enhance teachers' technical competence.

19- When requested by the Ministry of Education, participating in work to improve the education sector and providing cooperation for such work.

20- Working as a contract teacher, teaching weekly for between 25 to 30 minutes of 35 minutes or between 20 to 25 minutes of 45 minutes.

Requirements of the post

Teacher, Rank 3

  • Having obtained a Bachelor's degree at Level 7 or 8 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Teaching field, and having served for 4 years in the post of Teacher, Rank 2, with a qualification at Level 9 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Teaching/Education field.

or

  • Having obtained a Bachelor's degree at Level 7 or 8 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the field designated for Teaching subjects, a qualification at Level 5 or below of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Teaching field, and a qualification at Level 9 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Teaching field, and having served for 4 years in the post of Teacher, Rank 2.

or

  • Holding a Bachelor's degree at Level 7 or 8 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from a field specifically designated for Teaching, and holding a qualification at Level 9 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Teaching field, with 4 years of service in the position of Teacher, Rank 2.

or

  • Holding a Bachelor's degree at Level 7 or 8 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Teaching field and holding a qualification at Level 10 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Education/Teaching field.

or

(a) For educational certificates issued by institutions outside Maldives that have been graded by the Maldives Qualifications Authority at a certain level, copies of the educational certificate and transcript; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of the letter confirming completion of the course and a copy of the assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.

(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.

  1. Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

Exception given when changing the position of an employee in the Teachers' Job Metrics post

If an employee in a post under Teachers' Job Metrics (from that time's specialization) transfers to or retires from a Teacher's post in a Civil Service organization, the salary shall be fixed at the rank held at that time. And in cases where the conditions for a lower rank than the rank held at that time are met, the salary shall be fixed at the lower rank that meets the conditions. However, if an employee in a post under Teachers' Job Metrics transfers to or retires from a Teacher's post in a Civil Service organization of a different specialization other than the specialization held at that time, then if the "Educational Standard" stated in the School Teachers' Job Metrics is fully met, the salary shall be fixed at the lower rank that meets the conditions. And in cases where the conditions for a lower rank than the rank held at that time are met, the salary shall be fixed at the lower rank that meets the conditions.
