Main responsibilities and duties of the post

(a) Teaching all content prescribed in the national curriculum both inside and outside the classroom and performing all necessary tasks for students to achieve the learning outcomes set in the national curriculum.

Using lesson plans and classroom environment and other activities that enable learners to acquire the "Key Competencies" as identified in the national curriculum as necessary for learners.

Managing practical work assignments carried out by students and preparing question papers for various tests given to students and administering the tests.

(d) Marking assignments and assessment papers related to the subject taught, unit test papers and term test papers, and marking papers of tests conducted to assess or improve students' achievement.

5- Maintaining records of the level and progress achieved by learners.

(f) Sharing information concerning student development with parents, school staff and education sector officials.

(g) Performing the responsibilities and duties of these teachers when there are no teachers, with guidance from school-related officials.

Requirements of the post

Teacher, Rank 3

  1. A Bachelor's degree or Bachelor of Honours degree at National Qualifications Framework level 7 or 8 from the teaching field, along with a Master's degree at National Qualifications Framework level 9 from the education/teaching field, with 4 years of service in the post of Teacher, Rank 2.

Or

  1. A degree at National Qualifications Framework level 7 or 8 or a Bachelor of Honours degree from a subject field designated for the teaching of the subject, along with a qualification at National Qualifications Framework level 5 or lower from the teaching field, and a Master's degree at National Qualifications Framework level 9 from the education field, with 4 years of service in the post of Teacher, Rank 2.

Or

  1. A degree at National Qualifications Framework level 7 or 8 or a Bachelor of Honours degree from a subject field designated for the teaching of the subject, along with a Master's degree at National Qualifications Framework level 9 from the teaching field, with 4 years of service in the post of Teacher, Rank 2.

NOTE:- Every person serving as a teacher must hold a qualification in the field of Education of at least Level 5 in the National Qualifications Framework of the Maldives. However, persons who have obtained lower qualifications in the field designated for teaching may be considered as having met the qualification requirement if they have completed a General Teaching Certificate from the Teaching department, and this certificate may be considered as a qualification in the field of Education.

  1. Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

(b) If employed in a Government established agency, or a registered private company or private agency, or a registered national or international organisation or association, the written confirmation issued by the office stating the position held, duration of employment and (in years, months and days), and job responsibilities (even if work has been carried out in different positions in different departments of one agency), or if no such written confirmation can be obtained, the 'Reference Check Form for Job Applicant' in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.

Exemption given when changing the position of a staff member currently in the Job Metrics post of Teachers

If an employee in a post under Teachers' Job Metrics (from that time's specialization) transfers to or retires from a Teacher's post in a Civil Service organization, the salary shall be fixed at the rank held at that time. And in cases where the conditions for a lower rank than the rank held at that time are met, the salary shall be fixed at the lower rank that meets the conditions. However, if an employee in a post under Teachers' Job Metrics transfers to or retires from a Teacher's post in a Civil Service organization of a different specialization other than the specialization held at that time, then if the "Educational Standard" stated in the School Teachers' Job Metrics is fully met, the salary shall be fixed at the lower rank that meets the conditions. And in cases where the conditions for a lower rank than the rank held at that time are met, the salary shall be fixed at the lower rank that meets the conditions.
