Main responsibilities and duties of the post

  1. Performing tests as per the doctor-issued laboratory requisition slip by drawing blood from patients and collecting specimens in urine collection tubes.
  2. Performing standard blood and other analyses.
  3. Processing blood or other fluid samples for analysis by medical professionals.
  4. Using the equipment specified in the specified guidelines and principles.
  5. Ensuring that equipment needed for work is sterilised.
  6. Setting up, cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment.
  7. Handling hazard fluid or tissue-like items from the specified guidelines and principles.
  8. Examining specimens according to the set limits and procedures for time-bound tests.
  9. Performing tests to be done in the laboratory.
  10. Collecting specimen or fluid samples from collection points/stations and transporting them safely to the laboratory
  11. Providing information to patients on the procedure for collecting fluid or sample
  12. Providing technical information on test results to physicians and family members or researchers.
  13. Analysing test and experiment results, specifications and whether they conform, using special mechanical or electrical equipment.
  14. Collecting samples from patients using aseptic technique.
  15. Preparing and requesting reagents and consumables required for the laboratory and sending to stock.
  16. Maintaining the stock of reagents and consumables used in the laboratory.
  17. Actively participating in work required during health emergencies, pandemics and epidemics and performing all tasks assigned in relation to official work

Requirements of the post

A Bachelor's Honours degree or a degree at Level 7 or 8 of the National Qualifications Framework in fields related to Maldives Allied Health Council and related work areas.

3. A legible copy of both sides of the ID card (Identity Card) of the applicant showing that they are a Maldivian citizen (even if expired), or if the ID card has been lost, a birth certificate, passport or driving license of that person.

4. If the employee is an employee who has an agreement to serve the Civil Service / Government and has resigned from a transfer post, a letter from the office where the job is being performed confirming that there is no objection to leaving the job.

5. Copy of obtained educational certificates;

(a) For educational certificates issued by institutions outside Maldives that have been graded by the Maldives Qualifications Authority at a certain level, copies of the educational certificate and transcript; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of the letter confirming completion of the course and a copy of the assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.

(b) Copy of educational certificate and transcript issued by a local educational institution in the Maldives; or copy of course completion certificate and transcript: (Maldives National University and Islamic University of Maldives excepted, course completion letters (Course Completion Letter) issued by local educational institutions in the Maldives shall be considered valid if the letter includes the authorization number given by the Maldives Qualifications Authority to "batch validate" the letter and issue the document to the applicant.)

6. Copy of documents falling under the following category showing work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) Work carried out where the experience duration is not visible from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter issued by that office stating the position held, the duration of the post (in years, months and days as applicable), and the responsibilities of the post (even if work has been done in different positions in the same office).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

(e) If work has been undertaken in a dissolved state institution, or in a dissolved private company or private organisation, or in a dissolved national or international society or association, and a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period of work (in years, months and days) and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) cannot be obtained, the "Reference Check Form for Work Experience from a Dissolved Workplace" found in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.
