Main responsibilities and duties of the post
- Observing the physical and mental health of the patient, the patient's family and those speaking on behalf of the patient.
- Reviewing medical information maintained in consultation with other doctors referred by the patient and health care workers.
- Instructing special tests necessary for patient examination, analysing the results of tests that can be carried out and providing care forward, and making the necessary changes to be made to the care.
- Monitoring the patient's condition in the ways set for prescribing the patient, providing care and providing nursing, anaesthetic care, rehabilitation and protection from disease.
- Performing general and special medical operations required for care.
- Cooperating with other doctors and other health professionals necessary to record and maintain complete patient medical information.
- Participation in research and studies in cooperation with state authorities regarding the provision of information and documents required for the discharge of legal and technical responsibilities, information about the deceased and bereaved, and information about matters that need to be notified.
- Raising awareness among caregivers, families and the community about the care and management of certain special conditions and the well-being of such conditions.
- Determining the cause of death and the manner of death within the specified timeframe in accordance with the prescribed method.
- Conducting studies on the care and protection of such conditions and publishing them in scientific reports.
- Participation in work carried out to protect public health and in the implementation and conduct of programmes prepared for public health promotion.
- Technical advice in dismantling and further improving the health service system, with participation in the process.
- Providing such service for a specified period in cases where specialist services are needed within island health services.
- Participating in councils and boards established by law in the capacity of a medical professional, providing advice in technical committees and boards related to health services, and in boards and councils that regulate health service professionals.
- Providing specialist services for a specified period in cases where specialist services are needed in island health service centres.
- Practical participation in health emergencies and disaster response work.

(c) If employed in a private company or private institution, documentation issued by that office detailing the post held, the duration of employment (showing years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (even if employment has been in different posts in one institution), and the number of staff working at the workplace.

- Basic Medical Degree accepted by the Maldives Medical and Dental Council
- Completed internship at a Medical Institute accepted by the Maldives Medical and Dental Council
- Specialty Master's Degree of at least Level 9 of the national qualifications of the Maldives accepted by the Maldives Medical and Dental Council
- Work experience of 12 years or more in the post of Consultant or 6 years or more in the post of Senior Consultant
- Basic and post-basic qualification registered and licensed with the Maldives Medical and Dental Council
- Current registration and license
