Main responsibilities and duties of the post
- Observing the physical and mental health of the patient, the patient's family and those speaking on behalf of the patient.
- Request necessary tests to assess the patient's condition and review the results of those tests and provide care accordingly.
- Provide advice to the patient, provide care and counselling, provide guidance to protect the patient from disease, and monitor the patient's condition accordingly.
- Assist in performing necessary medical procedures and operations required for care.
- Participation in conducting and implementing programmes aimed at raising public awareness in work related to public health protection.
- If work is to be performed under the charge of doctors, prepare a duty roster and inform staff members before the beginning of each week, and supervise the work of those staff members and provide appropriate feedback. Additionally, ensure that doctors' work is organised in an appropriate manner, and approve doctors' overtime work.
- In cases where referral is necessary, referring patients to specialised centres and hospitals necessary for treatment.
- During pregnancy and delivery and thereafter observing and caring for any complications that may arise from delivery, and referring cases that need to be referred.
- Record patients' health information in writing and, based on this information, provide care according to specialist doctors' guidance and involve other members of the health care team.
- Participation in research and studies in cooperation with state authorities regarding the provision of information and documents required for the discharge of legal and technical responsibilities, information about the deceased and bereaved, and information about matters that need to be notified.
- Conduct research on special health conditions affecting people and the aetiology of those conditions, and conduct research on the care and protection of those conditions, and publish in scientific reports.
- Provide care to people coming to seek health services with various disabilities, and provide necessary information to research institutions.
- Actively participating in work to be done during health emergencies, pandemics and disasters.
- To perform the work with dedication and responsibility and faithfully complete the work delegated to the workplace and staff.

- Completion of a Speciality Post Graduate Programme.
- Registration of at least one basic and additional qualification with the Maldives Medical Council with a licence.
