Main responsibilities and duties of the post
- Daily checking and feedback on updates and technical work carried out by unit staff according to the format set by the unit (Acquisition, Catalogue, Withdrawal, Classification)
- Updating the Legal Deposit Unit folder on the National Library's computer network
- Researching trends in library services practised internationally and in the Maldives and submitting recommendations
- Providing assistance to the Section Head in organizing meetings of the National Library's Legal Deposit Committee
- Providing assistance in organizing meetings of the National Library's Book Committee and preparing for meetings
- Daily compilation of unit statistics
- Acquisition, withdrawal and classification
- Assistance in carrying out digitization work
- Checking and submitting to the Acquisition Committee the lists of items newly acquired or donated to the National Library prepared by unit staff, and delivering to the relevant staff
- Preparation and review of technical S.O.Ps required by the unit according to the Section Head's consultation and work on reviewing the existing S.O.Ps
- Participate actively in various events hosted by the National Library and provide the assistance required for those events.
Requirements of the post
- Having obtained a grade of "E" or better in an examination of equivalent standard to "O" Level (or similar) in 2 subjects, and having obtained a grade of "C" or below in "Dhivehi" in the Secondary School Certificate Examination or Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination.
Or
- Having obtained a grade of "D" or below in an examination of equivalent standard to "O" Level (or similar) in 2 subjects, and having obtained a grade of "C" or below in "Dhivehi" in the Secondary School Certificate Examination or Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination, and possessing 4 years of work experience in a field related to the duties of the post.

- Copies of educational certificates obtained;
(a) For educational certificates issued by institutions outside Maldives that have been graded by the Maldives Qualifications Authority at a certain level, copies of the educational certificate and transcript; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of the letter confirming completion of the course and a copy of the assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.
(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.
- Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:
(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).
(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).
(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.
(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.
(e) If work has been undertaken in a dissolved state institution, or in a dissolved private company or private organisation, or in a dissolved national or international society or association, and a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period of work (in years, months and days) and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) cannot be obtained, the "Reference Check Form for Work Experience from a Dissolved Workplace" found in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.
