Main responsibilities and duties of the post

  1. Setting up, maintaining, calibrating, cleaning and conducting sterility tests on medical laboratory equipment.
  2. Providing technical information on test results to physicians and family members or researchers.
  3. Analysing test and experiment results, specifications and whether they conform, using special mechanical or electrical equipment.
  4. Collecting samples from patients using aseptic technique.
  5. Performing tests as per the doctor-issued laboratory requisition slip by drawing blood from patients and collecting specimens in urine collection tubes.
  6. Conducting blood and other standard analyses.
  7. Processing blood or other fluid samples for analysis by medical professionals.
  8. Practical participation in work required during health emergencies, pandemics and disasters.

Requirements of the post

Licences and qualifications required for appointment to the post:

Registration from the Medical Laboratory Department of the Maldives Allied Health Council.

Educational qualification and work experience of the post:

  1. Holding a qualification recognised by the Maldives Allied Health Council at Level 7 or 8 of the National Qualifications Framework of the Maldives in a field related to the work.

Work areas of the post:

Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Medical Science, Biomedical Science, Clinical Micro Bacteriology, Diagnostic Micro Bacteriology.

  3. A readable copy of both sides of the card proving that the applicant is a Maldivian citizen (even if the validity period has expired), or if the ID card is lost, the applicant's birth certificate, passport or driving licence.
  4. If a staff member with a service agreement to serve the Civil Service / Government is transferred to this position, a letter issued by the office providing the service stating that there is no objection to leaving the position.
  5. Copies of educational certificates obtained;

(a) For educational certificates issued by institutions outside Maldives that have been graded by the Maldives Qualifications Authority at a certain level, copies of the educational certificate and transcript; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of the letter confirming completion of the course and a copy of the assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.

(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.

  1. Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

(e) If work has been undertaken in a dissolved state institution, or in a dissolved private company or private organisation, or in a dissolved national or international society or association, and a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period of work (in years, months and days) and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) cannot be obtained, the "Reference Check Form for Work Experience from a Dissolved Workplace" found in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.

Criteria to be considered for the person to be most suitable for this post

The criteria for being the most suitable person for this post, and the requirements and principles for appointment to civil service posts, are set out in section 12.4 of the 2023 Regulations Governing Appointment to Civil Service Posts.

Note: Appointment to the post shall be made only if the candidate obtains a total of 60% (sixty percent) and above from all criteria.
