Main responsibilities and duties of the post

  • Responsible to the Council and the Secretary General for all matters relating to the administration of the Council's operations and implementation of Council decisions

  • All administrative and technical works of the Council office must be carried out under the guidance of the Supervisor.
  • Assisting fully in implementing decisions approved by the Council, and carrying out all administrative work required in implementing such decisions under the guidance of the Secretary General or Supervisor
  • Identifying and solving all electrical problems that appear in the buildings and parking areas (for vehicles) of Fuvahmulah City Council.
  • Checking and maintaining wiring problems in vehicles.
  • Identifying and rectifying problems in the starting motor and alternator of vehicles.
  • Installing cables that need to be installed in buildings and other places, and completing electrical wiring work.
  • Installing and solving problems with distribution boards (DBs) and circuit breakers.
  • Identifying materials needed for wiring work, and arranging to obtain such materials under the guidance and instruction of the supervisor.
  • Before starting work each day, ensuring the safety and completeness of required tools and equipment.
  • Checking electrical systems of vehicles daily according to regulations and maintaining them in good condition.
  • In emergencies or at any time notified by the office, working on such work and completing it as the responsible party, and performing the work.
  • In addition to this, carrying out such work at other sites of the office and other official work assigned from the field of work.

  1. Qualification at level 3 of the National Qualifications Framework of Maldives in a field related to the work of the post

Scope of duties of the post

Electrician, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Electronics Technology, Electronics Technology, Electronics and Communication Technician, Engine Power Systems Operations, Engine Repair and Maintenance, Automotive Repair and Maintenance, Heavy Machine Operations, Welding and Machining, Marine Mechanics, Welding and Sheet Metal, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Renewable Energy Systems and Maintenance, Fibreglass Boat Building, Wooden and Fibreglass Boat Building.

Documents to submit

  3. A readable copy of both sides of the card proving that the applicant is a Maldivian citizen (even if the validity period has expired), or if the ID card is lost, the applicant's birth certificate, passport or driving licence.
  4. If a staff member with a service agreement to serve the Civil Service / Government is transferred to this position, a letter issued by the office providing the service stating that there is no objection to leaving the position.
  5. Copies of educational certificates obtained;

(a) For educational certificates issued by institutions outside Maldives that have been graded by the Maldives Qualifications Authority at a certain level, copies of the educational certificate and transcript; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of the letter confirming completion of the course and a copy of the assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.

(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.

  1. Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

(b) If employed in a Government established agency, or a registered private company or private agency, or a registered national or international organisation or association, the written confirmation issued by the office stating the position held, duration of employment and (in years, months and days), and job responsibilities (even if work has been carried out in different positions in different departments of one agency), or if no such written confirmation can be obtained, the 'Reference Check Form for Job Applicant' in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.

The criteria for being the most suitable candidate for this post are contained in Number 12 of the Civil Service Eligibility and Appointment Rules and Principles 2021 (Third Amendment).
