Main responsibilities and duties of the post
- Providing nursing care to patients with compassion, attending to them, and evaluating them.
- To provide care for patients' physical, social and mental health needs in line with the nursing care plan, in collaboration with other health professionals.
- Arranging holistic nursing care for patients under the guidance of doctors, monitoring and evaluating the services provided with compassion in accordance with this arrangement.
- Participating in programmes aimed at promoting child development and health awareness conducted in the care environment and in the community.
- Providing responsive answers to questions from patients and their families regarding support, care and nursing care.
- Supervising and collaborating with other nurses and other healthcare service providers providing personal care to patients.
- Conducting research on nursing and nursing practices, developing scientific documents and reports, and sharing that information.
- To perform tasks required in that position if the post is supervised by a Nurse Midwife.
- Providing care in accordance with the doctor's written instructions, monitoring and noting changes in the patient's condition as care progresses, and facilitating other healthcare professional services where the patient requires special assistance.
- Recording and updating patient health information and information on basic care provided in the information recording system.
- Providing information necessary for developing national health plans by maintaining records of services provided under nursing care.
- To participate practically in providing first aid and further care to patients in National Medical Emergency situations.
- Providing first aid care and care in emergency situations
- To fully participate in scheduled trainings, and to be familiar with the principles established for ambulance service provision, and to keep up to date with changes to those principles daily.
- To maintain the privacy of general public health issues, patient health conditions or personal and health information of patients, and not to disclose information of those parties to any other party outside the principles governing that information.
- To always be ready for emergency calls that may occur, and to work with other team members in accordance with the time frame set and guidelines.
- To provide clinical interventions at the scene of the incident, and to provide care when referring to a health service centre.
- To ensure that equipment/kits required in emergencies are functional before providing care in emergency situations.
- To note the care and procedures given when a patient is transferred from one place to another, and to pass this information to the receiving party.
- Actively participating in work required during health emergencies, pandemics and epidemics and performing all tasks assigned in relation to official work
Requirements of the post
Registered Nurse, (Public Service Rank 5 - Step 1)
A qualification at Level 5 or 6 of the National Qualifications Framework in the Nursing field, recognised by the Maldives Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Registered Nurse, (Public Service Rank 7 - Step 1)
A qualification at Level 7 or 8 of the National Qualifications Framework in the Nursing field, recognised by the Maldives Nursing and Midwifery Council.

(a) For educational certificates issued by institutions outside Maldives that have been graded by the Maldives Qualifications Authority at a certain level, copies of the educational certificate and transcript; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of the letter confirming completion of the course and a copy of the assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.
(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.
- Licence or Registration
- Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:
(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).
(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).
(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.
(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.
(e) If work has been undertaken in a dissolved state institution, or in a dissolved private company or private organisation, or in a dissolved national or international society or association, and a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period of work (in years, months and days) and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) cannot be obtained, the "Reference Check Form for Work Experience from a Dissolved Workplace" found in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.
