Main responsibilities and duties of the post

1- Performing all tasks required to teach and ensure that students and parents learn the standards set in the national curriculum.

2- Preparing lesson plans to ensure that students meet the standards set in the national curriculum.

3- Preparing papers for various tests given to students and administering the tests.

4- Marking teachers' books and assessment papers, unit test papers and term test papers in relation to the teaching subject, and marking test papers held to assess or improve student performance.

5- Maintaining records of student achievement and progress.

(f) Supervising practical work carried out by students.

7- Supervising students' conduct and discipline during school hours and outside the classroom.

(h) Participating in parent-teacher meetings and providing information to parents regarding student progress and learning.

9- Sharing necessary information with parents and guardians, school staff and educational department personnel regarding student development.

10- Assisting the school and cooperating in carrying out teaching-related matters conducted outside the classroom.

11- Ensuring that the environment in which students are in is a safe and secure environment for students.

12- Ensuring that students are achieving educational milestones and that students are acquiring religious and good moral values.

(m) Taking relief periods.

14- Running school club activities.

15- Coordinating such activities under the guidance and direction of school staff and supervisors when additional resources are required in relation to the prescribed curriculum.

(p) Participating in professional development activities organised by the school.

(q) Participating in opportunities to participate in activities conducted by the Ministry of Education and department institutions to enhance the technical skills of teachers.

18- When the Ministry of Education requests, participating in the work carried out by the Ministry of Education to develop the education sector, and providing support.

19- Taking lessons as a contract teacher, weekly 25 to 30 of 35 minutes or 20 to 25 of 45 minutes.

  1. Having obtained a Bachelor's degree at Level 7 or 8 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Teaching field, and having served for 4 years in the post of Teacher, Rank 2, with a qualification at Level 9 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Teaching/Education field.

or;

  1. Having obtained a Bachelor's degree at Level 7 or 8 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the field designated for Teaching subjects, a qualification at Level 5 or below of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Teaching field, and a qualification at Level 9 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Teaching field, and having served for 4 years in the post of Teacher, Rank 2.

or;

  1. A Bachelor's degree from a field specified in the prescribed curriculum at National Qualification Framework Level 7 or 8, along with a National Qualification Framework Level 9 qualification from the teaching sector, with 4 years of service in the post of Teacher, Rank 2.

or;

  1. Holding a Bachelor's degree at Level 7 or 8 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Teaching field and holding a qualification at Level 10 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Education/Teaching field.

or;

  1. Holding a Bachelor's degree at Level 7 or 8 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from a field specifically designated for Teaching, and holding a qualification at Level 5 or lower of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Teaching field, and holding a qualification at Level 10 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Education/Teaching field.

(a) For educational certificates issued by institutions outside Maldives that have been graded by the Maldives Qualifications Authority at a certain level, copies of the educational certificate and transcript; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of the letter confirming completion of the course and a copy of the assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.

(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.

  1. Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

(e) If work has been undertaken in a dissolved state institution, or in a dissolved private company or private organisation, or in a dissolved national or international society or association, and a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period of work (in years, months and days) and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) cannot be obtained, the "Reference Check Form for Work Experience from a Dissolved Workplace" found in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.

Exception given when changing the position of an employee in the Teachers' Job Metrics post

If an employee in the position of Teachers' Job Metrics changes to the position of Teacher in a Civil Service department or has resigned, the job will be equated to the rank held at that time. And in cases where the conditions for a lower rank than the rank held at that time are met, the job shall be equated to the lower rank that meets the conditions.
