Main responsibilities and duties of the post

1- Providing professional support in improving and further developing the health service system.

2- Participating as a medical professional in legally established councils and boards, technical committees and boards related to health services, and boards and councils that regulate health service professionals, and providing professional support.

3- Conducting physical examinations as required for specialist health care for persons in need.

4- Obtaining additional information from the patient and the patient's family members to assess the patient's health condition.

5- Reviewing medical information obtained from other doctors and health workers referred by the patient.

6- Instructing necessary tests for specialist health care and implementing care based on the results of those tests. And making necessary changes to the care provided based on the results of the care.

7- Providing mental health care and rehabilitation services needed by the patient, and providing information about measures to be taken for patient protection and recovery.

8- Performing operations for people in need of general patient care and for patients in need of specialist health care.

9- Recording and documenting the patient's health information in writing and sharing that information with relevant parties as required.

10- Providing information required to be provided to various parties in accordance with legal and professional obligations, and providing expert assistance in research and investigations conducted in relation to the field of work.

11- Collecting and compiling the medical reports that are required by law, participating in medical investigations, and providing expert opinions in cases where such opinions are required.

12- Participating in developing and implementing programmes to raise public awareness of the need for specialist healthcare for cases requiring specialist care.

13- Conducting scientific research and publishing scientific research relating to identification of the root causes of special health conditions and diseases affecting humans, and concerning the care and prevention of such diseases.

14- Providing specialist services to health service centres in atolls for the periods specified in the circumstances requiring specialist services.

15- Participating in providing health services in cases of public health emergencies, during national commemorative occasions, and in situations where disease outbreaks occur.

16- Instructing, training and supervising medical officers, fellows and staff.

17- Conducting autopsies to determine the cause of death, and determining death and the cause of death in accordance with the manner prescribed for these purposes.

18- Actively participating in work required in health emergencies, pandemics and epidemics.

Requirements of the post

Possessing a Basic Medical Degree recognised by the Maldives Medical and Dental Council. And,

Completed internship at a Medical Institute recognised by the Maldives Medical and Dental Council. And,

Holding a Speciality Master's degree recognised by the Maldives Medical and Dental Council, with a minimum National Qualification Framework level 9 from the Maldives. Additionally,
Having at least 2 years of work experience in the field of the post.

  5. Copies of educational certificates obtained;

(a) For educational certificates issued by institutions outside Maldives that have been graded by the Maldives Qualifications Authority at a certain level, copies of the educational certificate and transcript; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of the letter confirming completion of the course and a copy of the assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.

(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.

  1. Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

(e) If work has been undertaken in a dissolved state institution, or in a dissolved private company or private organisation, or in a dissolved national or international society or association, and a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period of work (in years, months and days) and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) cannot be obtained, the "Reference Check Form for Work Experience from a Dissolved Workplace" found in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.
