Main responsibilities and duties of the post:

1. Conducting all work required to teach students in and outside the classroom to achieve the standards set in the national curriculum.

2. Preparing lesson plans to achieve the standards set in the national curriculum.

3. Preparing and administering various test papers for students.

4. Marking students' notebooks and assessment papers, unit test papers, term test papers and other test papers related to the subjects taught and used to identify or improve student progress.

5. Maintaining records of student progress and development.

6. Maintaining records of practical work carried out by students.

7. Monitoring students' moral conduct while in and outside the classroom during school activities.

8. Participating in parent-teacher meetings and providing information to guardians regarding student learning.

9. Sharing necessary information with guardians, school staff and education sector officials regarding student development.

10. Assisting the school and cooperating in matters related to teaching outside the classroom

11. Ensuring that the environment in which students are present is safe and secure for students.

12. Ensuring that students are achieving educational standards and that students are developing religious and good moral habits.

13. Taking relief shifts

14. Running school club activities.

15. Coordinating additional resource requirements if needed in relation to teaching subject matter, under the guidance and supervision of school staff.

16. Participating in professional development activities organised by the school.

17. Participating in opportunities provided by the Ministry of Education and sector institutions to improve teachers' technical competency.

18. If requested by the Ministry of Education, participating in work to improve the education sector, and providing cooperation for that work.

19. As a contact holder, working 25 to 30 minutes of 35 minutes per week or 20 minutes of 45 minutes per week.

Requirements of the post:

Teacher, Rank 1

  1. Having obtained a qualification at Level 5 or 6 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Teaching field.

Teacher, Rank 2

1. Holding a Bachelor's degree at National Qualification Framework level 7 or 8 in the field of teaching.

or;

2. A bachelor's degree at National Qualifications Framework Level 7 or 8 from a field specified for the subject being taught, together with a qualification at Level 5 or below from the field of teaching from the National Qualifications Framework.

1. Holding a Bachelor's degree at National Qualification Framework level 7 or 8 in the field of teaching, together with a qualification at National Qualification Framework level 9 in the field of education/teaching, and having served 4 years in the post of Teacher, Rank 2.

2. Having completed a Bachelor's degree at National Qualifications Framework level 7 or 8 in a field specialised for the subject taught, along with a qualification at National Qualifications Framework level 5 or lower from the teaching field and a National Qualifications Framework level 9 qualification from the education sector, serving 4 years as a Teacher, Rank 2.

  1. Holding a Bachelor's degree at Level 7 or 8 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from a field specifically designated for Teaching, and holding a qualification at Level 9 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Teaching field, with 4 years of service in the position of Teacher, Rank 2.

4- Having obtained a Bachelor's degree at Level 7 or 8 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Teaching field, and a qualification at Level 10 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework from the Teaching/Education field.

5. (b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.

  1. Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

Exception given in replacing the post of an employee currently in a post in the Teacher Job Matrix:

If an employee in the position of Teachers' Job Metrics changes to the position of Teacher in a Civil Service department or has resigned, the job will be equated to the rank held at that time. And in cases where the conditions for a lower rank than the rank held at that time are met, the job shall be equated to the lower rank that meets the conditions.
