Main responsibilities and duties of the post

  1. Teaching the benchmarks set in the national curriculum to students in the school and outside the school, and conducting all necessary work for teaching and teaching.
  2. Preparing lesson plans to achieve the learning outcomes set in the national curriculum
  3. Preparing test papers for various tests conducted for students and administering tests
  4. Providing different skills and art guidance to students of different abilities
  5. Marking students' books, assessment papers, unit test papers, term test papers and related to the subject being taught, and marking papers of tests held to assess the progress or development achieved by other students
  6. Maintaining records of student performance and progress.
  7. Supervision of practical work carried out by students.
  8. Supervision of students' behavioural matters while school activities are held inside and outside the school.
  9. Participation in Parent Teacher Meetings and providing information to guardians regarding student behaviour and related matters.
  10. Sharing necessary information with guardians, school staff and education sector stakeholders regarding student development.
  11. Providing support and cooperation to the school in conducting extracurricular and related activities outside the classroom.
  12. Ensuring that the environment in which students are engaged is safe and secure.
  13. Ensuring that students are progressing in their educational development and that they are being raised with religious, proper moral and ethical values.
  14. Taking recess duties.
  15. Conducting school club activities.
  16. Coordinating additional resources required in relation to teaching material when necessary, under the guidance and direction of school staff.
  17. Participation in professional development activities organised by the school.
  18. Participation in activities organised by the Ministry of Education and the sector to enhance teachers' technical capabilities.
  19. If requested by the Ministry of Education, participation in activities carried out by the Ministry of Education to develop the education sector and provision of support.
  20. In addition to regular duties, to work diligently and regularly in special assignments assigned generally to positions not covered regularly, and in assigned optional tasks in accordance with how teachers are directed.

Note: Any person performing the duties of a teacher must hold a qualification at level 5 or below of the National Qualifications Framework of Maldives. Therefore, persons who have obtained lower education from the field specified for the subject taught should be accepted if they have completed a General Teaching Certificate from the Teaching field at level 5 or below, and this certificate may be considered as a qualification in the teaching field.

(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.

  1. Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

(e) If work has been undertaken in a dissolved state institution, or in a dissolved private company or private organisation, or in a dissolved national or international society or association, and a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period of work (in years, months and days) and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) cannot be obtained, the "Reference Check Form for Work Experience from a Dissolved Workplace" found in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.

  • Obtaining a minimum of 30 (thirty) points out of the total points allocated for interview and practical.
  • Obtaining a total of 50 (fifty) points in all the criteria set for the post.

Exception given when changing the position of an employee in the Teachers' Job Metrics post

If an employee in a position on the teachers' job metrics is transferred to a teacher's post in a civil service department or if that transfer is cancelled, employment will commence at the rank held at that time. And in cases where the conditions are met for a rank lower than the rank held at that time, employment will commence at the lower rank that meets the conditions.
