Main responsibilities and duties of the post
- Setting up medical laboratory equipment, maintaining, calibrating, cleaning and sterilising testing.
- Analysing test and experiment results, specifications and accuracy, using special mechanical or electrical equipment.
- Collecting samples from patients using aseptic technique.
- Collecting blood from patients' veins and transferring blood to standard test tubes for analysis as per laboratory requisition slips issued by doctors.
- Performing blood and other standard tests.
- Processing blood or other fluid samples for analysis by medical professionals.
- Actively participating in work required during health emergencies, pandemics and epidemics.
- After identification of samples from outpatient and inpatient departments and samples coming through other institutions, reviewing them.
- Properly writing and checking results that need to be entered in registries, providing answers to test results and related questions.
- Maintaining stock of consumables, reagents and chemicals required to conduct laboratory tests, and notifying the relevant person at least one day before expiry (Note: If working alone, order from central medical supplies to obtain items).
- Requirements of the post
Having obtained a degree at Level 7 or 8 of the National Qualifications Framework in a field related to the work of the post, or a Bachelor's Honours degree.

- Copies of educational certificates obtained;
(a) For educational certificates issued by institutions outside Maldives that have been graded by the Maldives Qualifications Authority at a certain level, copies of the educational certificate and transcript; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of the letter confirming completion of the course and a copy of the assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.
(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.
- Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:
(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).
(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).
(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.
(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.
(e) If work has been undertaken in a dissolved state institution, or in a dissolved private company or private organisation, or in a dissolved national or international society or association, and a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period of work (in years, months and days) and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) cannot be obtained, the "Reference Check Form for Work Experience from a Dissolved Workplace" found in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.
