Main responsibilities and duties of the post

  1. Court scheduling of court opening and closure times as determined by the court.
  2. Entry of all documents received in relation to cases filed to the court in the Mems system and dispatching them, and entry and uploading of additional documents related to cases in the CMS system.
  3. Responsible for counter service and answering phone calls.
  4. In response to SMS or messages received in relation to cases filed to the court, preparing responses to all documents that need to be answered administratively according to the officer's delegation of authority and sending them to the relevant parties before the set date.
  5. Performing all work related to Sharia court hearings.
  6. Preparing court orders in accordance with the magistrate's signature for forms submitted requesting court orders.
  7. Completing all Sharia records using the case management system.
  8. Scanning and filing administrative documents related to cases.
  9. Performing all administrative work related to court orders.
  10. Performing official work entrusted to the court by the court in accordance with the law and regulations.
  11. Assisting the Court Administrator in the induction plan of newly recruited magistrates and in proceeding with induction accordingly.
  12. Filing letters of the Sharia Section.
  13. Scheduling hearings from other courts with the schedule and proceeding with hearings accordingly.
  14. Implementing administrative procedures that need to be implemented in assigned cases in accordance with the magistrate's signature.
  15. Typing out transcripts of Sharia Court hearings.
  1. Updating cases in progress, completed cases, and closed cases in the CMS with the assistance of Legal Section staff.
  1. Writing case summaries and case closure reports.
  2. Carrying out work on pending cases, cases in progress, and cases awaiting follow-up, and taking necessary steps to expedite cases as per the instructions of the Magistrate/Court Legal Officer.

Additionally, carrying out official duties assigned by the Court and maintaining all documents related to Court responsibilities according to established procedures.

Requirements of the post

Having obtained a grade D or lower in 2 subjects in the 'O' Level or equivalent examination, and having obtained a grade C or lower in 'Dhivehi' in the Secondary School or Higher Secondary School Certificate examination.

(a) Aunt or uncle (including step-aunt and step-uncle); or

(b) Mother or father (including step-mother and step-father); or

(c) Sister or brother (including half-sister or half-brother, or sister or brother through step-relations); or

(d) Son or daughter; or

(e) Child (including nephew and niece and grandchild).

Documents to submit

  1. Completed application form for a position in the Shari'ah Division. (This form is available from B. Kamadhoo Magistrate's Court and is published with this announcement.)
  2. Details of the applicant (including contact phone number and email address).
  3. A copy of both sides of an identification card showing the applicant is a Maldivian citizen, with clear written details, or a legible copy of written documents. If the ID card is lost, a copy of the birth certificate, passport or driving licence of that person.
  4. If the applicant is a civil servant with an agreement to serve the government, a written confirmation from the office where the applicant is employed that there is no objection to leaving the current position.
  5. Copies of educational certificates obtained;

(a) For educational certificates issued by institutions outside Maldives that have been graded by the Maldives Qualifications Authority at a certain level, copies of the educational certificate and transcript; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of the letter confirming completion of the course and a copy of the assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.

(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.

  1. Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:

(a) If employed in a government institution or a government-backed enterprise, a letter issued by that office stating the position held, the duration of the post (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (with each responsibility in different posts in the same department listed separately).

(b) If employed in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that office stating the position held, the duration of employment (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (even if work was done in different positions within the same organisation), and the number of employees in the workplace where the work was carried out.

(c) If employed in a national or international organisation or association, a letter issued by that organisation stating the position held, the duration of the post (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (with each responsibility in different posts in the same department listed separately) (this letter must state whether the position held was a salaried post or not; or alternatively, official correspondence from that organisation stating the matter should be submitted).

(d) If employed in a state-owned agency, or an established private company or private organisation, or an established national or international organisation or association, and no letter can be obtained from that office stating the position held, duration of employment (in years, months and days), and responsibilities of the post (even if work was done in different positions within the same organisation), the "Reference Check Form for Experience at Designated Premises" listed in Table 6 of the Recruitment Procedure.
