Main responsibilities and duties of the post
- In accordance with international standards and the guidelines established by the hospital, implementing and managing a comprehensive patient safety programme.
- Performing tasks relating to the Health Service Act and rules made under that Act and other principles, and performing similar tasks in accordance with a prescribed manner.
- Setting up committees to obtain guidance from experienced professionals in the relevant field regarding the standards, guidelines and scope needed to review issues raised concerning healthcare, and managing the work of these committees.
- Writing procedures for conducting Nursing Department work and informing the relevant departments of the manner in which these tasks are to be carried out, and managing the implementation of these tasks.
- Ensuring that internal audits, quality assessments, and departmental operations are carried out in accordance with established protocols.
- Improving service quality and increasing patient satisfaction by collecting, analysing and establishing accountability systems for customer feedback.
7. Working to reduce problems arising in service delivery, mitigate problems faced by patients, and establish an atmosphere of safe service delivery in all departments with support.
8. Conducting analyses to investigate adverse incidents and unwanted events in the healthcare setting and to identify root causes of incidents, and providing feedback that can be implemented by staff and patients.
9. Ensuring that patient safety rules, guidelines, and accreditation requirements are implemented accordingly.
Requirement of the post
A Master's degree at Level 9 of the Maldivian national qualifications framework in a nursing speciality accepted by the Maldives Nursing and Midwifery Council, with a minimum of 2 years' work experience in nursing management, and a minimum of 2 years' clinical work experience
Or:
A degree at Level 7 or 8 of the Maldivian national qualifications framework or a Bachelor's Honours degree in a nursing speciality accepted by the Maldives Nursing and Midwifery Council, with a minimum of 2 years' work experience in nursing management, and a minimum of 6 years' clinical work experience

- A copy of both sides of an identification card showing the applicant is a Maldivian citizen, with clear written details, or a legible copy of written documents. If the ID card is lost, a copy of the birth certificate, passport or driving licence of that person.

- (a) A copy of educational certificate and transcript issued by a higher education institution abroad approved by the Maldives Qualification Authority with the level/grade specified by the Authority; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of a letter confirming course completion and a copy of the M.Q.A. assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority;
- (b) A copy of educational certificate and transcript issued by a higher education institution in Maldives; or a copy of a letter confirming course completion and a copy of the transcript.
- Copies of documentation of work experience:
- (a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).
- (b) If employed in a private company or private institution, a letter issued by that office stating the position held, the duration of employment (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the position (even if employed in different positions in one institution) and the number of employees at the place of work.
- (c) If you have worked in a national or international organisation/association, official documentation issued by that organisation stating the job performed, the duration of employment (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the job (if employment has been held in different positions in one institution, these must be stated separately) (in this letter, it must be stated whether the position held was a salaried position or not, or alternatively, official documentation from that organisation stating this must be submitted);
- If currently employed, a letter of no objection to resignation from current employment if appointed to this post

Hulhumalè Hospital opened on 7 April 2004, first as an outpatient service and then with 24-hour care from early 2005. It has been run under several governing bodies and, since November 2023, sits within the Malé City group of hospitals, directed by the Ministry of Health. Its services include an ICU, mental health and child development services, and an oncology centre. A new operating theatre complex and expanded ICU and NICU facilities are being developed.
