Main responsibilities and duties of the post

  1. In accordance with the Health Master Plan and other national policies and strategic plans, and in line with the same, developing action plans annually and implementing health promotion programmes at island and atoll levels in collaboration with schools, councils and some organisations.
  2. Providing support and assistance to teams visiting islands to carry out health-related work.
  3. Taking measures to control emerging diseases in the world and certain communicable diseases, implementing measures to control such matters, disseminating information about disease control, and implementing preventive measures in consultation and guidance with relevant parties.
  4. Community health work to be carried out once every 2 months, meeting with the island/atoll council every 4 months for a month and consulting with the council to implement necessary measures.
  5. Providing support to supervise the daily work of Public Health Unit employees and assist in completing their work.
  6. Reports that need to be sent day to day and month to month are to be compiled and prepared by collecting them from health centres, and after being reviewed at the island level, they are to be sent to the Health Protection Agency in accordance with regulations, and databases related to public health work are to be updated in accordance with regulations.
  7. At the island level, a plan for how public health units are to operate in emergencies and certain incidents is to be drawn up, and this is to be implemented.
  8. Under the National Immunisation Programme, arrangements are to be made such that all services that need to be provided within the atoll are provided in accordance with regulations.
  9. Work that needs to be carried out at the island and atoll level under the National Nutrition Programme is to be implemented.
  10. Under national programmes for controlling conditions related to ageing and certain chronic diseases and conditions inappropriate for ageing, work that needs to be carried out at the island and atoll level is to be implemented.
  11. Under the National Mental Health Programme, activities that need to be carried out at the island level are to be implemented, and services are to be provided in such a way that services are easily accessible in the provision of services.
  12. Work that needs to be carried out at the island level to be protected from health problems related to seasonal changes and weather is to be implemented.
  13. Public health work is to be carried out in coordination with the management and clinical department of R. Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital.
  14. Work that needs to be carried out to implement laws related to public health at the island level is to be done in coordination with the island council, Health Protection Agency, and other implementing authorities.
  15. Various programmes are to be implemented in coordination with the island and atoll councils, schools and other institutions to increase the well-being of all groups of people in the island.
  16. Maintenance of stock of medical supplies and consumables that need to be provided under various public health programmes and providing them to health centres in accordance with regulations.
  17. Home visits are to be carried out to provide information to the public about protecting public health, and reports on home visits are to be made in accordance with established rules detailing the home visits.
  18. Pharmacies and cafes, hotels and restaurants engaged in food business and places exporting to the European Union are to be inspected in accordance with the regulations and standards of the Maldives Food and Drug Authority and reports are to be made to the relevant parties.
  19. Practical participation in work that needs to be carried out during emerging health emergencies, pandemics and emergencies.

Requirements of the post

A Master's degree from a level 9 qualification on the Maldives National Qualifications Framework in an area related to the work of the post, recognised by the Maldives Allied Health Council.

2. A degree at level 7 or a Bachelor's Honours degree at level 8 on the Maldives National Qualifications Framework in an area related to the work of the post, recognised by the Maldives Allied Health Council, and 4 years of work experience in an area of the work of the post.

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.
