Main responsibilities and duties of the post

1-Conducting teaching inside and outside the classroom to achieve national curriculum objectives set and performing all necessary work for teaching.

2-Using lesson plans and creating classroom environment and additional activities to help students achieve the

3-Monitoring practical work conducted by students and preparing test papers for various tests given to students and administering tests.

4-Marking student workbooks and assessment papers, unit test papers, term test papers and test papers for tests to measure or evaluate student achievement or progress in relation to the subject being taught.

5-Maintaining records of student achievement and progress.

6-Sharing necessary information about student progress with school supervisors, school staff and education sector personnel.

7-In the absence of teachers, carrying out the responsibilities of those teachers with the guidance of school-related personnel.

Requirements of the post

Teacher, Rank 3

A teacher, Rank 2, who holds a Bachelor's Degree Honours Degree or a degree at Level 7 or 8 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework in the field of education/teaching, or who holds a Master's Degree at Level 9 of the Maldives National Qualifications Framework in the field of education/teaching, and who has served in the post of Teacher, Rank 2, for 4 years.

2. Possessing a bachelor's degree or honours degree at level 7 or 8 of Maldives National Qualifications Framework in a field designated for the subject taught, or a diploma or lower qualification at level 5 or below of Maldives National Qualifications Framework in the field of teaching, and a master's degree at level 9 of Maldives National Qualifications Framework in the field of education, and having served 4 years in the post of Teacher, Rank 2.

3. Possessing a bachelor's degree or honours degree at level 7 or 8 of Maldives National Qualifications Framework in a field designated for the subject taught, or a bachelor's degree or honours degree at level 7 or 8 of Maldives National Qualifications Framework in the field of teaching, and a master's degree at level 9 of Maldives National Qualifications Framework in the field of teaching, and having served 4 years in the post of Teacher, Rank 2.

  5. Copies of educational certificates obtained;

(a) For educational certificates issued by institutions outside Maldives that have been graded by the Maldives Qualifications Authority at a certain level, copies of the educational certificate and transcript; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of the letter confirming completion of the course and a copy of the assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.

(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.

  1. Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

(e) If work has been undertaken in a dissolved state institution, or in a dissolved private company or private organisation, or in a dissolved national or international society or association, and a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period of work (in years, months and days) and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) cannot be obtained, the "Reference Check Form for Work Experience from a Dissolved Workplace" found in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.

Exception given in the replacement of the post of an employee currently in the Teaching Service Job Metrics

If an employee in a post under Teachers' Job Metrics (from that time's specialization) transfers to or retires from a Teacher's post in a Civil Service organization, the salary shall be fixed at the rank held at that time. And in cases where the conditions for a lower rank than the rank held at that time are met, the salary shall be fixed at the lower rank that meets the conditions. However, if an employee in a post under Teachers' Job Metrics transfers to or retires from a Teacher's post in a Civil Service organization of a different specialization other than the specialization held at that time, then if the "Educational Standard" stated in the School Teachers' Job Metrics is fully met, the salary shall be fixed at the lower rank that meets the conditions. And in cases where the conditions for a lower rank than the rank held at that time are met, the salary shall be fixed at the lower rank that meets the conditions.

  • If a School Leaving Certificate indicating completion of Grade 10 or a letter showing participation in a Grade 10 final examination is obtained, it shall be considered as Secondary Education completed.
