Main responsibilities and duties of the post
- Receiving referrals from the Police of cases involving children aged between 15 and 18 who have broken the law and submitted to the Department, reviewing those cases, entering data into the database, allocating cases to case workers, and monitoring whether they work in accordance with the established procedures
- Sharing with the Department's Planning, Research and Advocacy Division the statistical figures of cases involving young children who have broken the law and are submitted to the Department, and the information required for the Department's annual report, before the set deadline
- Conducting risk assessments, social situation reports, other reports and action plans to understand the circumstances of children under 18 (eighteen) years of age who have broken the law, in order to rehabilitate them and return them to society, and checking that they are prepared according to the standards set. Also reviewing and updating the standards every year.
- Ensuring that children to be presented to court during the investigation stage, and children facing criminal charges, attend the court and the Juvenile Courts in accordance with Sharia, in order to protect their interests
- Working to obtain diversion opportunities for such children who have broken the law, outside the Sharia process, with the aim of returning them to society, and, when developing a diversion plan, referring them to the Diversion and Reintegration Unit or the Counselling and Psychosocial Support Unit, and monitoring interventions.
- Holding case conferences concerning children who have broken the law in conjunction with the relevant institutions, and participating in case conferences conducted by other institutions. Also monitoring and encouraging that minutes of such meetings are updated and kept in case files.
- Monitoring the situation of children held in detention during investigation and in detention to enforce a ruling.
- Ensuring, when a criminal charge against a child is filed with the court, that the child is represented by a lawyer in accordance with Sharia, and, where the child is a person with no means to appoint a lawyer, ensuring that the Unit takes the steps needed for the State to provide a lawyer.

(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.
6. Copies of documents as specified below demonstrating work experience:
(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).
(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).
(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.
(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.
(e) If work has been undertaken in a dissolved state institution, or in a dissolved private company or private organisation, or in a dissolved national or international society or association, and a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period of work (in years, months and days) and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) cannot be obtained, the "Reference Check Form for Work Experience from a Dissolved Workplace" found in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.
