Main responsibilities and duties of the post

Medical Officer, (Public Service Rank 7- Step 1)

Carry out the physical and mental examinations needed to identify a patient's physical and mental health condition.

2 Obtaining further information from the patient and from the patient's family members, in order to understand the patient's health condition.

3 Informing the patient of tests to be carried out to understand the condition, and continuing treatment according to the test results.

4 Providing the patient with medicine, treatment and counselling, advising on protection from diseases, and monitoring the patient's condition in accordance with regulations.

5 Assisting in the doctor's procedures and operations required for treatment.

6 Referring the patient, in cases requiring referral, to specialist doctors required for treatment and to specialist disease centres and hospitals.

7 Recording the patient's health information and sharing it with the parties with whom it must be shared.

8 Providing information that must be given to various parties for legal and professional duties, and assisting with and supporting research and studies conducted in relation to the field of work.

9 Identifying potential risks during and after pregnancy and childbirth, providing treatment, and referring cases requiring referral.

10 Participating in activities to protect public health and in programmes run to raise public awareness.

11 Providing treatment to people who come for health treatment after suffering various injuries and abuse.

12 Participating in providing health services during sudden health emergencies, national crises and outbreaks of contagious disease.

13 Determining deaths and causes of death in line with the defined criteria.

5. Copies of educational certificates obtained.

(a) For educational certificates issued by institutions outside Maldives that have been graded by the Maldives Qualifications Authority at a certain level, copies of the educational certificate and transcript; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of the letter confirming completion of the course and a copy of the assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.

(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.

6. Copies of documents as specified below demonstrating work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) Work carried out where the experience duration is not visible from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter issued by that office stating the position held, the duration of the post (in years, months and days as applicable), and the responsibilities of the post (even if work has been done in different positions in the same office).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.
