Main responsibilities and duties of the post

1- Checking the identification of samples coming to OPD and IPD and samples received through other institutions after identification.

2- Getting information from the relevant sources during the required analysis and providing the patient with complete service and necessary information.

3- Processing the tests required during duty according to standard procedures and preparing reports on time as soon as the tests are completed.

4- Writing the results required in the registry clearly, checking thoroughly and maintaining completely, and answering questions arising related to test results.

5- Performing special laboratory tests and working to complete the performed tests further.

6- Checking the quality control of tests performed in the laboratory, maintaining records, and training junior staff on skills.

8- Managing the stock of consumables, reagents and chemicals required to perform tests in the laboratory, and notifying the relevant person before anything runs out and before expiry.

9- Managing the laboratory working environment and informing staff to maintain and keep the laboratory clean and hygienic.

10- Performing daily maintenance of machines and equipment available in the laboratory, checking the maintenance that should be done once a week, maintaining records of this, and if anything is missing, notifying the relevant person.

11- Listening to complaints from patients/guardians or other parties related to the laboratory and resolving them if resolvable, and notifying the relevant parties.

12- Training and supervising Laboratory Assistants and Laboratory Technologists with relevant departmental training and skills.

13- Not publicly disclosing test results to unauthorised persons and keeping confidentiality.

14- Being available for shift duty, emergency duty and relief duty when necessary.

15- Assisting in important work carried out in the centre and handing over the work of staff on leave and absent staff according to the direction of the work supervisor.

16- Working to foster cooperation and unity among staff, participating in work aimed at the centre's development, and actively participating in social and special occasions organised by the centre that are related to work and staff.

17- Adhering to the general rules and regulations of the centre and adhering to general etiquette, keeping the workplace and environment clean and hygienic while performing duties.

18- Actively participating in work required during health emergencies, pandemics and disasters.

Requirements of the post

  1. A degree at National Qualifications Framework Level 07 or 08, or a Bachelor's Honours degree in a field recognized by the Maldives Allied Health Council and related to the work, from the relevant field.
  2. Valid registration with the Maldives Allied Health Council in the Medical Laboratory field.

(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.

  1. Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) Work carried out where the experience duration is not visible from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter issued by that office stating the position held, the duration of the post (in years, months and days as applicable), and the responsibilities of the post (even if work has been done in different positions in the same office).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

(e) If work has been undertaken in a dissolved state institution, or in a dissolved private company or private organisation, or in a dissolved national or international society or association, and a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period of work (in years, months and days) and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) cannot be obtained, the "Reference Check Form for Work Experience from a Dissolved Workplace" found in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.
