Main responsibilities and duties of the post

  1. Providing nursing care to patients and, with compassion in this matter, meeting the physical, psychological and social needs of those people.
  2. Reporting unusual conditions that appear to patients to doctors and notifying that doctor of those who have been referred.
  3. Providing information to patients regarding rehabilitation of care provided to patients under the care of doctors.
  4. Managing the matters of providing observation services to those who need to be cared for in short shifts.
  5. Informing the relevant doctors of any emergencies that occur and managing such emergencies until the doctor arrives.
  6. Providing health education to visitors to the hospital and centres and specially supporting people during admission and after discharge, providing information to the family of the discharged person (mother and father) about their care and how to prevent complications and their management.
  7. Participating practically in maintaining the health of people in the hospital and centre and participating practically in various programmes run by the health promotion section and in outreach visits.
  8. Checking the inventory before duty and shift handover and replacing damaged items.
  9. Where a person from the hospital and centres has to be referred to Malé or elsewhere, to send that person there.
  10. Maintaining the cleanliness of the hospital and centre and implementing the universal infection protocol uniformly.
  11. Preparing reports and detailed accounts and documents that need to be prepared in relation to services provided by the section.
  12. Carrying out all tasks related to the office's official work.
  13. Active participation in work during health emergencies, pandemics and epidemics.

Requirements of the post

  • Requirements of PSR5 Step1

Possession of a national qualification at Level 5 or Level 6 in nursing recognised by the Maldives Nursing and Midwifery Council from the nursing field.

  • PSR7 Step 1 Requirements

A National Certificate at Level 7 or 8 in Nursing from a nursing field recognised by the Maldives Nursing and Midwifery Council.

  5. Copies of educational certificates obtained;

(a) For educational certificates issued by institutions outside Maldives that have been graded by the Maldives Qualifications Authority at a certain level, copies of the educational certificate and transcript; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of the letter confirming completion of the course and a copy of the assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.

(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.

6. Copy of current registration and licence

  1. Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

(e) If work has been undertaken in a dissolved state institution, or in a dissolved private company or private organisation, or in a dissolved national or international society or association, and a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period of work (in years, months and days) and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) cannot be obtained, the "Reference Check Form for Work Experience from a Dissolved Workplace" found in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.
