Main responsibilities and duties of the post

  1. Performing all work required to be done for students inside and outside the classroom to achieve the learning outcomes set in the national curriculum
  2. Preparing lesson plans to achieve the learning outcomes set in the national curriculum
  3. Preparing test papers for various tests conducted for students and administering tests
  4. Providing different skills and art guidance to students of different abilities
  5. Marking students' books, assessment papers, unit test papers, term test papers and related to the subject being taught, and marking papers of tests held to assess the progress or development achieved by other students
  6. Maintaining records of student performance and progress.
  7. Supervision of practical work carried out by students.
  8. Supervision of students' behavioural matters while school activities are held inside and outside the school.
  9. Participation in Parent Teacher Meetings and providing information to guardians regarding student behaviour and related matters.
  10. Sharing necessary information with guardians, school staff and education sector stakeholders regarding student development.
  11. Providing support and cooperation to the school in conducting extracurricular and related activities outside the classroom.
  12. Ensuring that the environment in which students are engaged is safe and secure.
  13. Ensuring that students are progressing in their educational development and that they are being raised with religious, proper moral and ethical values.
  14. Taking recess duties.
  15. Conducting school club activities.
  16. Coordinating additional resources required in relation to teaching material when necessary, under the guidance and direction of school staff.
  17. Participation in professional development activities organised by the school.
  18. Participation in activities organised by the Ministry of Education and the sector to enhance teachers' technical capabilities.
  19. If requested by the Ministry of Education, participation in activities carried out by the Ministry of Education to develop the education sector and provision of support.

Teaching in the form of 20-contract hours per week, in periods of between 25 to 30 minutes of 35-minute sessions or between 20 to 25 minutes of 45-minute sessions.

(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

The matters to be considered for a suitable person for this position are included in the criteria and principles for the positions of School Teachers' Job Metrics in 2022.

Appointment to this position shall be made to a person who fulfils the following 2 criteria.

  1. Obtaining a minimum of 30 points out of the total points allocated for interview and practical, and

Obtaining a total of 50 points out of all the criteria allocated for the position.

Exception given when changing the position of an employee in the Teachers' Job Metrics post

If an employee in a post under Teachers' Job Metrics (from that time's specialization) transfers to or retires from a Teacher's post in a Civil Service organization, the salary shall be fixed at the rank held at that time. And in cases where the conditions for a lower rank than the rank held at that time are met, the salary shall be fixed at the lower rank that meets the conditions. However, if an employee in a post under Teachers' Job Metrics transfers to or retires from a Teacher's post in a Civil Service organization of a different specialization other than the specialization held at that time, then if the "Educational Standard" stated in the School Teachers' Job Metrics is fully met, the salary shall be fixed at the lower rank that meets the conditions. And in cases where the conditions for a lower rank than the rank held at that time are met, the salary shall be fixed at the lower rank that meets the conditions.
