Main responsibilities and duties of the post

  1. To fully assist in implementing the decisions approved by the Council, and to perform all administrative tasks required in implementing such decisions under the guidance of the Secretary General or the Supervisor.
  2. Conducting waste collection work during scheduled waste collection times from within the island, transporting waste to the waste disposal site and sorting waste items (metal, glass, plastic) in accordance with the principles set by the Council
  3. Daily cleaning of bins according to set principles, and after completing the cleaning, preparation of vehicles and other materials needed for the work, and placing of materials needed for the work in designated places.
  4. Participation in waste management centre internal and external bin cleaning work under the supervision of a supervisor, and carrying out that work.
  5. Maintenance and cleaning of dustbins placed in social gathering places according to set guidelines and regulations.
  6. Carrying out tasks that need to be done in collecting waste arising within the island according to the manner set by the council.
  7. Active and practical participation in all development activities carried out for island development.
  8. Carrying out other tasks as instructed by the council from within the scope of work.
  9. Removing litter from waste categories and daily cleaning and maintenance of waste beds.
  10. Participation in arranging additional activities organised by the council.

Requirements of the post

Reading and writing

Note: Evidence of literacy:

- At the screening stage, evidence of literacy will be considered by reference to a letter issued by the employment authority. Or

- Evidence of literacy will be considered by reference to a letter issued by a government authority. Or

- A letter issued by a school confirming that Grade 5 or a higher grade has been completed will be considered.

  3. A readable copy of both sides of the card proving that the applicant is a Maldivian citizen (even if the validity period has expired), or if the ID card is lost, the applicant's birth certificate, passport or driving licence.
  4. If a staff member with a service agreement to serve the Civil Service / Government is transferred to this position, a letter issued by the office providing the service stating that there is no objection to leaving the position.
  5. Copies of educational certificates obtained;

(a) For educational certificates issued by institutions outside Maldives that have been graded by the Maldives Qualifications Authority at a certain level, copies of the educational certificate and transcript; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of the letter confirming completion of the course and a copy of the assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.

(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.

  1. Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

(e) If work has been undertaken in a dissolved state institution, or in a dissolved private company or private organisation, or in a dissolved national or international society or association, and a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period of work (in years, months and days) and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) cannot be obtained, the "Reference Check Form for Work Experience from a Dissolved Workplace" found in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.
