Main responsibilities and duties of the post

  1. Using the equipment specified in the specified guidelines and principles.
  2. Ensuring that equipment needed for work is sterilised.
  3. Setting up, cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment.
  4. Checking that laboratory requisition forms and specimen tubes are available.
  5. Handling hazard fluid or tissue-like items from the specified guidelines and principles.
  6. Examining specimens according to the set limits and procedures for time-bound tests.
  7. Performing tests to be done in the laboratory.
  8. Safely transporting fluid or specimen samples to the laboratory from the collection site or station.
  9. Providing information to staff on the procedure for collecting fluid or specimen samples.
  10. Practical participation in work to be done in health emergencies, pandemics and epidemics.
Licenses and training required at the time of appointment to the post

Registration from the Medical Laboratory Division of the Maldives Allied Health Council.

Requirements of the post

A Diploma at Level 5 or Advanced Diploma/Associate Degree from a discipline related to work recognised by the Maldives Allied Health Council, from the National Qualifications Framework of the Maldives.

  3. A readable copy of both sides of the card proving that the applicant is a Maldivian citizen (even if the validity period has expired), or if the ID card is lost, the applicant's birth certificate, passport or driving licence.
  4. If a staff member with a service agreement to serve the Civil Service / Government is transferred to this position, a letter issued by the office providing the service stating that there is no objection to leaving the position.
  5. Copies of educational certificates obtained;

(a) For educational certificates issued by institutions outside Maldives that have been graded by the Maldives Qualifications Authority at a certain level, copies of the educational certificate and transcript; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of the letter confirming completion of the course and a copy of the assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.

(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.

6. Copies of documents as specified below demonstrating work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) From the civil service work experience, work undertaken during periods of experience not shown on https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv, and the duration of work (showing years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the work (even if work was undertaken in different posts in one office), shall be clearly stated in a letter issued by that office.

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

(e) If work has been undertaken in a dissolved state institution, or in a dissolved private company or private organisation, or in a dissolved national or international society or association, and a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period of work (in years, months and days) and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) cannot be obtained, the "Reference Check Form for Work Experience from a Dissolved Workplace" found in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.
