Main responsibilities and duties of the post

  1. Observing and assessing the physical and mental health of the patient and their family through conversation
  2. Requesting necessary tests to diagnose the patient's condition and providing care based on the results of those tests
  3. Providing medical notes and care to the patient, providing counselling, guiding patients on disease prevention, and monitoring the patient's condition regularly
  4. Assisting in medical procedures and operations necessary for treatment
  5. Participating in work carried out to protect public health and in programmes conducted to raise public awareness
  6. Referring patients to specialist doctors and specialised health centres and hospitals in cases requiring referral
  7. Recognising and treating complications that may arise during pregnancy, delivery and the post-partum period, and referring cases that require referral.
  8. Recording the patient's medical information in writing, keeping this information confidential and securely, providing care according to the specialist doctor's guidance and cooperating with other health service staff in the team
  9. Providing information required to fulfil legal and technical duties, and assisting research and investigations related to information about deaths and cases that need to be notified to government agencies
  10. Providing care to people who come seeking health services due to various injuries and providing information required to investigative agencies
  11. Participating in providing health services in cases of health emergencies, during times of national crisis and in situations of emerging epidemics
  12. Determining cause of death in a consistent manner according to set standards

Requirements of the post

  • Having obtained a basic medical degree recognised by the Maldives Medical and Dental Council. And having completed an internship at a medical institution recognised by the Maldives Medical and Dental Council.

(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.

  1. Copies of documents covering the following criteria providing work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) For work experience within the civil service that cannot be verified from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period (in years, months and days) confirmed by that office, and stating the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

(e) If work has been undertaken in a dissolved state institution, or in a dissolved private company or private organisation, or in a dissolved national or international society or association, and a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period of work (in years, months and days) and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) cannot be obtained, the "Reference Check Form for Work Experience from a Dissolved Workplace" found in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.

Criteria to be considered for the person to be most suitable for this post

  • Points awarded for meeting basic requirements - 25%
  • Points awarded for experience beyond that required to meet the requirements - (maximum 20 points) – 20%
