Main responsibilities and duties of the post

  1. Teaching within and outside school as per curriculum standards set in the national curriculum and all necessary tasks associated with teaching.
  2. Using lesson plans and classroom environments and conducting additional activities as needed to ensure that students acquire the "key competencies" set out in the national curriculum as necessary for students.
  3. Managing practical work carried out by students and preparing papers for various tests conducted for students, and administering the tests.
  4. Marking students' books and assessment papers, unit test papers, term test papers, and papers for tests conducted to assess or improve student performance, in relation to the subject being taught.
  5. Maintaining records of student performance and progress.
  6. Sharing information necessary with parents, school staff and educational department personnel regarding student progress.
  7. Carrying out teachers' responsibilities under school guidance when teachers are absent.

Requirements of the post

Teacher Rank 3

  • A candidate must hold a Degree at Level 7 or 8 of the Maldivian national qualifications framework or a Bachelor of Honours Degree from the teaching sector, and must have completed a Master's Degree at Level 9 of the Maldivian national qualifications framework from the education/teaching sector, and must have 4 years of service in the post of Teacher, Rank 2.

Or:

  • A candidate must hold a Degree at Level 7 or 8 of the Maldivian national qualifications framework or a Bachelor of Honours Degree from a field specified for teaching, and a Diploma at Level 5 of the Maldivian national qualifications framework in teaching or a Level 6 Advanced Diploma/Associate Degree, and a Master's Degree at Level 9 of the Maldivian national qualifications framework from the education sector, and must have 4 years of service in the post of Teacher, Rank 2.

Or:

  • A candidate must hold a Degree at Level 7 or 8 of the Maldivian national qualifications framework or a Bachelor of Honours Degree from a field specified for teaching, and a Master's Degree at Level 9 of the Maldivian national qualifications framework from the teaching sector, and must have 4 years of service in the post of Teacher, Rank 2.

  3. A readable copy of both sides of the card proving that the applicant is a Maldivian citizen (even if the validity period has expired), or if the ID card is lost, the applicant's birth certificate, passport or driving licence.
  4. If a staff member with a service agreement to serve the Civil Service / Government is transferred to this position, a letter issued by the office providing the service stating that there is no objection to leaving the position.
  5. Copies of educational certificates obtained;

(a) For educational certificates issued by institutions outside Maldives that have been graded by the Maldives Qualifications Authority at a certain level, copies of the educational certificate and transcript; or: in cases where there is no certificate, a copy of the letter confirming completion of the course and a copy of the assessment report and transcript issued by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.

(b) Copies of educational certificates and transcript issued by local educational institutions in Maldives; or copies of letter confirming completion of the course and copies of transcript.

6. Copies of documents as specified below demonstrating work experience:

(a) If work experience has been gained in a civil service post, in a state institution, in a government-owned company, a letter from that office stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each).

(b) Work carried out where the experience duration is not visible from https://myaccount.csc.gov.mv/, a letter issued by that office stating the position held, the duration of the post (in years, months and days as applicable), and the responsibilities of the post (even if work has been done in different positions in the same office).

(c) If work experience has been gained in a private company or private organisation, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, the period of work (in years, months and days), the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) and the number of staff at the workplace.

(d) If work has been undertaken in a national or international association or society, a letter from that organisation stating the work undertaken, and the period (in years, months and days), and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each). This letter should state whether the position held is a salaried position or not, or alternatively, an official letter from that organisation confirming this.

(e) If work has been undertaken in a dissolved state institution, or in a dissolved private company or private organisation, or in a dissolved national or international society or association, and a letter from that office stating the work undertaken and the period of work (in years, months and days) and the responsibilities of the post (if work has been undertaken in different posts in one institution, the responsibilities should be stated separately for each) cannot be obtained, the "Reference Check Form for Work Experience from a Dissolved Workplace" found in Table 8 of the Recruitment Rules.

The criteria to be considered for the most suitable candidate for this position are contained in the "Guidelines and Principles for Appointment of Personnel to Teaching Positions in School Teachers' Job Metrics 2022 (Second Amendment)".

Exemption granted in filling a position in the Job Matrix of a staff member currently serving as a Teacher

If an employee in a post under Teachers' Job Metrics (from that time's specialization) transfers to or retires from a Teacher's post in a Civil Service organization, the salary shall be fixed at the rank held at that time. And in cases where the conditions for a lower rank than the rank held at that time are met, the salary shall be fixed at the lower rank that meets the conditions. However, if an employee in a post under Teachers' Job Metrics transfers to or retires from a Teacher's post in a Civil Service organization of a different specialization other than the specialization held at that time, then if the "Educational Standard" stated in the School Teachers' Job Metrics is fully met, the salary shall be fixed at the lower rank that meets the conditions. And in cases where the conditions for a lower rank than the rank held at that time are met, the salary shall be fixed at the lower rank that meets the conditions.
